NIKON binoculars and their archery range finder has proven to be very helpful and reliable in the field. They hold up well under dusty conditions, dry conditions and the typical wet and cold weather of our gun and black powder season.

The Nikon archery range finder is the perfect tool for archery hunting and turkey hunting. Small and compact it is not a burden to carry. The range is over 100 yards which is perfect for this type of hunting.

Wrangler Rugged Wear, by Jack Payne

The rod buckled and the tip actually hit the water. After a good battle a master angler catfish was in the boat. Quickly I grabbed my needle nose pliers from the long slender pocket on my right side and removed the hook and then the big cat. Of course photos were taken before the fish was returned to the depths of the lake.

Wrangler sports wear has placed a fair amount of money in my pocket. Besides the great fit because of the elastic waist bands and the sharp look, the slacks are functional.

When I meet new editors or product media reps I feel comfortable and look good, well as good as I can look. The shirts are light weight and not a burden to wear. Once again they look sharp and professional.

During the winter my seminars are well attended and when attending the shows with the reps I can wear the blue jean style and still look good without looking like a sales rep.

I wear the tan or green colored slacks when meeting reps or editors and the blue slacks when fishing. I like the looks of the blue jeans as does the sponsors. Not to fancy but more than respectable.

The jeans have plenty of pockets for a knife or small tools plus a pocket for a pliers. The shirts are great because you can roll up the sleeves and button them up much like wearing a tee-shirt. In addition they have deep enough pockets to hold a small spiral notebook for taking notes or holding a pair of glasses.

The pockets Velcro shut and there are even a few small pockets. The one series is extremely light weight which is great on those warm days or when working a crowd inside an arena with the heat turned up.

The pants are loose enough to be comfortable but not loose enough that when you bend over you have the appearance of a rapper. The shirts allow me to sit for hours banging away at the computer.

When on the water both the pants and shirts allow me to cast and photograph with no discomfort. I like the safe pockets on the shirts for an extra battery or flash card when in the field with my camera. It is nearly impossible for something to fall out of the pockets.

When the average but large to me eight point buck was working down the hill towards the water hole and the frost still heavy on the ground I was warm. The leafy wear camouflage over the olive green pants kept me warm and the many pockets eliminated the need for a fanny pack.

The pants have snaps and very large pockets. In addition some of the pockets have a zipper for extra security. I wear the olive green pants for most of my hunting situations. A walk through the briars rarely causes me any pain.

When I hunt waterfowl I like to be mobile and once again having many pockets that will not lose items makes life similar. Shells, a compass and of course a few calls all fit in nicely.

Turkey hunting I found the pockets nice because my slate calls fit into each pocket and I still can carry a few extra shells and camouflage face paint.

Taking a walk through the campground or on the hiking trail has proven very good. Once again, not to heavy and if you get wet they will dry quick enough so not to become a burden.

I found the Pro Staff clothing to be effective on the job, on the water, on the trail or at Church. Folks comment about the casual but yet professional look of the cloths. If any changes were to me made I would suggest a light weight model for dress and warm weather and a slightly heavier set of pants and shirts for the cooler weather seasons.

Muzzy broadheads dropped five deer in a row for me this season. The first deer was down within 30 yards and the deer that traveled the furthest went 90 yards.

The heads left a gapping hole and a blood trail that eliminated the need for a lantern. Can't say they are the best head but they work the best for me. They fly as true as a practice head on my Black Diamond Bow from Diamond Archery and i can't ask for much more than success!

TULSA, Okla. – An Oklahoma bass angler and inventor has unveiled a dramatically new plastic worm and soft plastic bait system -- SnapTail -- with three unique gamefish-catching features that make it superior to other plastic worms on the market.

The new SnapTail System uses patented colored tail snaps for changing colors without changing worms, an S-curve built-into its wide, flat tail to attract bass, and a proprietary recoil motion on retrieves and pauses for life-like bait action.

"The plastic worm is the best artificial lure in bass fishing and tournament history, but the SnapTail revolution is going to ratchet plastic worm fishing up to an entirely new level," said Ronnie Line of Tulsa, who has been actively working on the new system for more than 10 years.  "SnapTail will catch more bass than other plastic worms; you'll see," he said.

The SnapTail System kit, which retails for $29.95, includes four blister packs with a total of 30 worms in six popular colors and tail snaps, large and small, also in six different colors. The kit also includes a packet of SnapTail's weighted, keeper style worm hooks and a bonus pack of plastic worms in the popular watermelon seed color. Line's company, Snap Tail Lures LLC, headquartered in Tulsa, accepts check, money order or credit card and takes orders via its website, www.snaptaillures.com, or on the phone 1-877-828-9189.  Anglers may also order replacement snaps and hooks.

Wave Spin Fishing Reels
Finally a new reel hit the market that really makes a difference. Wave Spin is the first reel on the market that eliminates tangles. Doug Hannon the professor of bass fishing was instrumental in the design of the reel. For more information check out wavespinreel.com or russ@wavespinreel.com. I was very impressed with the new reel.
